Workshop & Story time | We care, can and will!

Author and illustrator Linda Ólafsdóttir will hold a workshop for families in connection with her exhibition of original illustrations from her book about the Women's Day Off; I DARE! I CAN! I WILL! which is on display at the library to mark the 50th anniversary of the Women's Day Off.

Linda will read from her book and then lead a workshop where guests can create their own protest signs to express their opinions and demand equality and peace in the world. I DARE! I CAN! I WILL! was originally published in English in 2023, but the book has been translated into Icelandic, German, and Japanese. The book has received numerous awards and illustrations from it have been exhibited around the world. The book was also recently nominated for the German Children's Literature Award.

Linda Ólafsdóttir is an author and illustrator who has illustrated numerous books, including the classic Íslandsbók barnanna (Here is Iceland), Reykjavík barnanna (Here is Reykjavík), Blíðfinnur, Draumaþjófurinn, and the book about Einar, Anna, and the museum that was forbidden for children. Linda regularly holds courses, workshops, and seminars, and publishes her books both in Iceland and abroad.For her work, she has received numerous recognitions and awards.

Understanding the Status and Struggles of Women is a collaborative project of public libraries in Iceland to mark Women’s Year 2025.
