What is a neutral language in an intercultural workplace? | Opið samtal

Tuesday May 30th 2023

Are you sometimes unsure which language is best to use to communicate with everyone at your workplace? Our society is a multilingual one and we would like to discuss how we can find ways to include all, when we share information and knowledge. We invite to an open conversation about what could count as a neutral language in an intercultural workplace.

Members of hafnar.haus the new creative hub in downtown Reykjavík take part in the conversation. People from all creative industries use hafnar.haus on a daily basis as their workspace. Hafnar.haus is based on the belief that the future is built on creativity; daring to step away from the status quo, with curiosity, determination and diversity. Together with all members Hafnar.haus members want to build a city lab for curiosity, experimenting and a pressure cooker for ideas, where we come together to create the unexpected.

The aim of this open exchange is to find ways to make platforms and communities more accessible and welcoming for people who use diverse languages in their communication. The field of hafnar.haus is for playing and ideas can be thrown up in the air for many more to see and make use of.

Opið samtal is a platform where we practice respectful and open exchange. Join us as we explore different formats of discussions at the library and gain new skills in engaging in topics that are close to our hearts.

All welcome
