The Scent Library

Could we make more sense of the world by caring for our senses better? What memories and knowledge is evoked by smelling a certain smell? How do we gain a better understanding through the senses?

Juan Camilo works with smells and textures in The Scent Library that opened on the 12th of February 2024. This was a place where you were guided through the nooks and crannies of the mind. Included in the space was a game of navigation where users of the library were invited to increase the senses with different smells and movements.

The aim of The Scent Library is to offer the opportunity for a restoration of our relationship with our senses – how we perceive each other, the world, and the elements we play with and use. The underline is unlearning and using our senses to renovate of our relationships.

This temporary space is a part of the project Stofan | Public Living Room. It is an experimental project where the library works with different partners on placemaking at the library. This is a process where we temporarily transform a space into a place for meaningful interactions. The theme of Stofan 2023-2024 is Share the Care.
