Refracted Seed - an exhibition by Hildur Erna Villiblóm.

Hildur Erna Villiblóm Sigurjónsdóttir was born in Mosfellsbær in 1992 but grew up mostly in Reykjavík. She studied art in secondary school and then moved to Florence, Italy, where she graduated with a BA in Photography and New Media in 2016. After completing her studies, she lived in London for a few years before returning to Iceland and settling in Vesturbær in 2020.

Hildur Erna specializes in photography and image processing mixed with painting, drawing, and writing. Through the lens, she most often explores the female body, capturing themes such as identity, transformation, and the raw essence of earthly flesh.

Her unique approach challenges conventional notions of beauty, inviting viewers to find it in the unexpected and the unconventional. Over the years, Hildur Erna has worked on a variety of projects, including book cover and poster design, and most recently, the artwork for the musician Kaktus's album cover, which went on to win the Icelandic Music Award and the FÍT Award in the music graphics category.

She has participated in group exhibitions in London and Edinburgh, but since moving back home, she has held two solo exhibitions; at Gallerí Gröf in 2022 and at Lóla Flórens in 2023, in addition to participating in a group exhibition at Flæði Gallerí in 2023.

The exhibition opening will be on Friday, December 5th.
