Open+ | Apply for Access
We offer our users the opportunity to visit the Kringlan and Sólheimar libraries outside regular opening hours and without staff assistance.
If you have already signed in to "My account" you can apply to access to Open+ by filling out the form below.
You may also apply for access by filling out a physical form at the library.
By applying you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the following terms and rules of use.
Access
To access Open+ the user must be 18 years or older, have an active membership (library card) and an active PIN code.
How do I get in?
Users gain access using their kennitala (ID number) and PIN code. Children are allowed in the company of their parents or guardians but it is important that no other guests follow along with registered users when they enter or exit the library.
The building's security system is activated automatically when Open+ end each day, so it's important that users vacate the library before that time. Users who remain after this time will be charged for costs related to security services being called in due to the security system being triggered.
Safety, Monitoring and Personal Privacy
Users should be able to feel safe while at the library. To ensure users' safety, we require every user to sign in at entry. The library is monitored by security cameras in accordance with rule nr. 50/2023 on digital monitoring. Information related to sign-ins and video is stored for 30 days in keeping with personal privacy regulations and only reviewed when there is a reason to do so.
The library is a public space and falls under police regulations nr. 1097/2008 for the City of Reykjavík. The use of alcohol and illegal substances are prohibited, as is indecent behavior, the violation of others' privacy and any threatening behavoir towards other users, verbal or physical. Violation of these rules will result in immediate suspension of access to Open+.
Behavoir and Conduct
During Open+, as during regular opening hours, users are required to respect their fellow users and their right to privacy and peace. It is also important to respect the library's belongings, it's library collection, furniture and overall environment. If a user does damage to library property, they will be held accountable for damages.
Loans and Returns
A user is responsible for the library items they loan or return. It's important to follow the directions related by the self-service machines, and check whether all materials have successfully been loaned or returned. It can be helpful to print out a receipt for the relevant action to make sure. If you have any problems related to loans or returns, please contact library staff during regular opening hours to solve the issue.
Reservations
If you have been notified of a ready reservation you can pick it up during Opein+. In the notificatation you will get informaion about where the reserved item is on the reservation shelf. Make sure to take the correct item, as you can't take on loan any items waiting for another user.
Agreement
You may apply to accss to Open+ by giving your name, kennitala (ID number), email and phone number in the form below. The form is only open to users who are logged in but you can log in to this website by clicking "My Account" at the top of the page.
