You will not feel alone in Sólheimar. The library is small, friendly and very popular with the locals. Some say this the cosiest City Library!

You are welcome to use the facilities as you wish – to relax, meet others or host your own event. We do a lot of storytelling events and workshops for children, but we also offer events for other age groups. You can follow the program of events on our website and Facebook.

Location

The library is located in Sólheimar 23a. Accessibility is good and parking is located behind the building. We encourage our users to use environmentally friendly transportation when possible.

About Sólheimar

Despite the small size, the library material in Sólheimar is very diverse. Feel free to get comfortable, have a cup of coffee, read the papers, browse through the latest magazines or get lost reading a book that you can‘t put down.

The Children's Area

The children's area has a good selection of children's books, both in Icelandic and English. Children's books in many other languages can be found in our other libraries and it is always possible to order books to be delivered to Sólheimar. Here is an overview of the languages that we have at the City Library. 

Computers, Scanners and Printers

Free access to computers. Printing, scanning and photocopying for a small fee. 

Events and Exhibitions

Everyone is welcome to send in an application with a proposal for any kind of collaboration, event, exhibition or other projects. Contact us and we will do our best to respond to applications as quickly as possible!

Library Tours

School groups and other groups who want to get to know what the library has to offer can book library tours all year round.
