BOOKS AND READING

BOOKS TO YOUR HOME
Free and personalized service for elderly people and otherwise disabled people who are not able to come by themselves to the library. A librarian helps to choose material to read and listen to that fits the field of interest of the users. The material is lent out for eight weeks at a time.

THE E-LIBRARY | AUDIOBOOKS, E-BOOKS AND MAGAZINES
A digital library on your phone or the computer. A wide range of interesting audiobooks, e-books and magazines is accessible to those who have a valid library card at the Reykjavik City Library or other associated public libraries.

THE LITERATURE WEB | LITERARY CRITIQUE AND REVIEWS
On the Literature Web (Bókmenntavefurinn), you can find a great collection of literary critique and articles about Icelandic books and authors. It is well worth checking in regularly, new articles are added regularly. The content is written in Icelandic.

BOOK LISTS | FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Our librarians are keen to promote all the wonderful books worth reading to the library users. On our website you can find a good selection of book lists for every imaginable field of interest.

READING CIRCLES, CHAT GROUPS AND HANDICRAFT TIMES
Do you like chatting about books, do handicrafts or even both? You are welcome to join in our groups or even start your own at the library.

We offer free access to creative spaces and tools. In many of our libraries we have the space, tools and equipment waiting for you to use. Take a look at all the things on offer you.

HRINGRÁSARSAFNIÐ | BORROW USEFUL ITEMS
We have self-checkout cupboards at Gerðuberg, Grófin, Kringlan and Úlfarsárdalur in cooperation with RVK Tool Library. You can become a member (it's cheaper for those who own a library card) and borrow all sorts of items and tools.

ARTÓTEK | ART FOR RENT OR SALE
Artótek rents and sells art by Icelandic artist who are members of SÍM - The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists. The goal is to promote Icelandic art and provide users to rent or buy art in a reasonable way.

EXHIBITION SPACES | DO YOU WANT TO EXHIBIT YOUR WORK?
Most of our city libraries have spaces for small or bigger exhibitions. Please, send us an e-mail and tell us what you would like to exhibit.

THE SEED LIBRARY | FREE SEEDS TO GROW
The Seed Library is located in many of our libraries. There you can get all kinds of free seeds to grow. The Seed Library will happily accept left over seeds from the public. Just put them in a labled envelope and pop by your local library.
