Um þennan viðburð
Opening of Christmas Gift Exchange | Climate Café
Join us for a gift exchange at Grófin, the Reykjavík City Library downtown!
The event will open with a casual and cozy gathering. Bring the items you would like to exchange and help us set up and decorate the space with some found natural joy. Once the space is ready and looking cute, we will sit down with some tea or coffee and exchange thoughts/feelings/experiences - whether they are thankful, happy, or sad (and everything in between). The end of the year can bring a combination of conflicting pressures - allow yourself the space and time to reflect and share and lend an ear to someone else.
Christmas is around the corner and the season of stressful over-consumption is underway.
Bring the pre-loved treasures that you or your kids have grown out of and could bring other people some joy - and find something that you could place under the tree, stuff in a shoe, or a stocking (all cultural versions of the mythical and invisible gift-givers are welcome!)
The exchange starts at 17:00 on December 12th and will continue through the weekend until the same time on the 15th of December.
If you can't make it on the 12th feel free to pop by and add or take something from the gift exchange table and leave a holiday reflection on our tree.
The gift exchange is from 12th-15th of December. See here for full event
The rules of participation:
Bring something if you want.
Take something if you want.
Items should be clean and in working condition.
Please do not wrap the items.
No clothing or large/heavy items.
No need to bring something in order to take something
The gift focus this year is on items you could give a child (toys/games/books etc) or something decorative or useful for the home (candles/frames/plants/vases/decorations/books etc).
Let´s support each other to share more and buy less this Christmas.
