Academic Café | K-pop og K-drama
South Korean pop culture has reached amazing heights of popularity in recent years. From Gangnam Style to Parasite, which won the Oscar in 2019. At this Academic Café we will take a deep dive into Korean culture and see examples of K-dramas that can be watched on streaming platforms and what music tops the K-pop charts to get closer to this distant land, but present culture.
Get to know the speakers:
Park Hye Joung is originally from South Korea and has been in Iceland on and off since 1997. Hye Joung is an artist and teacher working at the Visual School of Reykjavik and Iceland University of the Arts alongside with her studio work
Choi Kyoung Eun is born and raised in South Korea, she majored in Jazz Vocals at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague where she met her current husband and came to live in Iceland. She loves K-dramas and music and they have been little joys for her to endure a lonely foreign life which she is excited to share with you all.
Greta Vazhko is originally from Lithuania but lived in South Korea for two years where besides exploring the new culture and enjoying amazing food, she was studying visual effects and digital content. She currently lives in Iceland where she works as a graphic designer and marketer.
