Exhibition | Patterns of Nature

The members of Fókus went outside to look for all kinds of patterns that can be found in nature. The result is shown in an ambitious exhibition in Spöngin.

Fókus – félag áhugaljósmyndara (association of amateurs of photography) was founded in 1999 by a group of enthusiasts with the intent of cultivating the interest in photography, using peer mentoring and enjoying the company of like minded people, regardless of age and previous experience. The association has grown and now the members are around 130. Fókus holds regular events, such as evening strolls, lectures, workplace meetings, day trips and longer trips. The high point of each years activity is the publishing of a book and a group exhibition.

This year's exhibition is now in the City Library of Reykjavík, the branch of Spöngin, from March 4th until April 15th 2023. The theme is "patterns of nature", curators Díana Júlíusdóttir and Kasper Dalkarl, both graduates from the Novia University in Finland have assisted members of Fókus to make an ambitious exhibition. This year 46 members participate in the exhibition, many of them are showing they're photographs for the first time.

The exhibition is open during opening hours of the library, Mon-Thu 10-18, Fri 11-18 and Sat 11-16.
