Exhibition | Krummi
Location: 2nd floor, The Circle
The idea behind the exhibition Krummi was born when the artist Mikkel Odu did an art recidencie in Stöðvarfjörður. The exhibition consists of a series of watercolour paintings that follow the journeys of a raven named Krummi.
In the beginning we see Krummi crossing a dark fjord on a small boat and witness him deciding to step off the boat and head towards the mountains in the hope of finding himself. Through the paintings we get a glimpse into Krummi’s emotional life where each painting describes his spiritual journey and challenges, from the deepest bottom to a new beginning and a brighter future.
Mikkel Odu is an independent animator and illustrator from the Czech Republic. From a young age he was attracted by the art of animation which led to him pursuing art studies. He holds a master's degree from Tomas Bata University in Zlín in visual arts focused on animation. Mikkel works with 2D animation, where he combines the traditional hand-painted medium with computer technology. His short, animated stories have been featured at film festivals around the world. After finding a new home in Iceland, the artist’s favourite mediums of expression grew to include illustration and painting. Mikkel’s focus is on storytelling accompanied by natural elements.
