Siljan | Video Competition

Are you in grades 5-10?

In collaboration with the library, Barnabókasetur Íslands puts on an annual video competition called Siljan. The competition is split for grades 5-7 and 8-10. It’s open to all students in Iceland. Funding comes from the Ministry of Education and Children. The competition is a great assignment for remote learning and home schooling because students work independently with literature, creation, and technology.

The goal is to get children and young adults interested in reading by drawing their attention to new children’s books and creating role models out of the children themselves. Participants submit a 2-3 minute video with a discussion about a children’s book or young adult fiction published in Iceland in the last three years. The video must be posted online (for example, on YouTube) and then sent to barnabokasetur@unak.is -- along with the author’s name, grade, and school.

A chance to win a great prize!

Look out for announcements about the submission deadline, which is typically in late April.
