The Reading Gang in 112 | Intermezzo
In December, we’ll read Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. It tells the story of two brothers who have recently lost their father. The novel explores how they process their emotions and deal with grief, love, and life. The book, published last year, has received much attention and positive reviews from critics. Sally Rooney released her first novel, Conversations with Friends, in 2017. This was followed by Normal People in 2020, and both books have been adapted into television series.
We get together once a month to discuss and delve into all kinds of literature, by Icelandic as well as foreign authors. This semester we will though focus on Irish contempory authors.
The aim is to create a platform to discuss and share our thoughts on literature and to have a cozy time together at the library.
The books we read are available both in English and in Icelandic translations.
The meet-ups take place at Spöngin City Library in Grafarvogur, once a month from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm.
