Tengivirkið - Young People Connect

Thursday March 10th 2022

Today at Tengivirkið we will receive a presentation from Andrými - A Radical Social Center in Reykjavík and New in Iceland

,,Andrými is a radical social center and a community where values of equality and freedom are fought for.  It’s purpose is to be an open space for grassroot groups and individuals to meet and organise,,. Elínborg Harpa Önundardóttir, always called Elí, will tell us about Andrými.

At New in Iceland Immigrants can get assistance to feel safe, to be well-informed and supported while living in Iceland. It cooperates with key institutions and organizations in Iceland in order to serve according to peoples needs. You can receive help in English, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Lithuanian, Russian and Icelandic. Jordi Cortes Espasa, a consultant at New in Iceland will visit us and tell us about their service.

At Tengivirkið - Young People Connect, people aged 16 - 25, whose native language is not Icelandic, meet others with diverse backgrounds and experience, in a good and relaxing environment. They learn some Icelandic through diverse ways with an experienced teacher and receive some presentations from interesting organisations and parties.

Tengivirkið is a part of the library's development as an open space where users are sought to be involved in programming and make the space their own.

Free of charge - no obligation
All the Tengivirki's events start at 4pm and last for about 90minutes.
