Competition | Reykjavík City Library Christmas Song 2025

The Reykjavík City Library held its first Christmas song competition in 2022. As it was a great success, it has since become an annual event open to everyone. This year marks the fourth edition of the competition. We invite submissions of original, previously unpublished songs in digital format. Songs must be in Icelandic and may be submitted with or without lyrics. The recommended length is approximately three minutes.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, 7 December at 23:59.

The results will be announced on 15 December.

 

Winning songs from previous years:

2022 Christmas is my Favourite Time of the Year, by Ximena Días.
2023: Það snjóar á alla, by Jens Einarsson.
2024: Ég er Jólakötturinn, by Ingi Hrafn and Gummi Grétar.

The judging panel consists of Anna Magnúsdóttir Eirúnardóttir and Agnes Jónsdóttir, specialists at the Reykjavík City Library, and the winner of the 2024 competition, Ingi Hrafn Hilmarsson, an actor and director, who also serves as the chair of the panel.
