Character Creation Workshop with Bergrún Íris

Sunday March 29th 2026

How was Pippi Longstocking actually created? What about Dog Man, Wimpy Kid and all the other characters we know from books? In this workshop, children's book author Bergrún Íris delves into character creation and teaches participants how to create their own story characters, both in words and pictures. This is a family workshop where adults are encouraged to bring children of all ages and have a fun time together.

Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir was born in 1985 and lives in Hafnarfjörður with her family. She graduated with a BA in Art History from the University of Iceland in 2009, completed a diploma in drawing from the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts in the spring of 2012, and attended a summer school in children's book creation at Anglia Ruskin, Cambridge School of Art.

The workshop is in connection with Bergrún's exhibition, Sketches Become … Books!
