Sögur (‘Stories’) | Music Composition
Location: The Workshop, 5th floor
In collaboration with Sögur, the Reykjavík City Library invites children to learn how to create their own song under the guidance of Vigfús Karl Steinsson.
The course is held on three occasions, on Sundays, October 12th, 19th and November 2nd.
Program:
- 12th of October: The basics of music and text making (13:00-15:00)
- 19th of October: The children will work on their music in smaller groups (for 1 hour between 13:00-16:30)
- 2nd of November: The children will put the finishing touches on their song and prepare it for submission to the Sögur competition ( for 1 hour between 13:00-16:30)
At the end of the course, the children are encouraged to participate in the Sögur competition. After the New Year, three songs will be selected, and those children will have the opportunity to fully produce their song with a producer and musicians. The three songs will be performed at the Sögur awards ceremony next spring, broadcast live on RÚV.
Vigfús Karl is a musician and the DJ Fusion Groove. He has been spinning records his entire adult life and has worked in the music industry for many years on various projects.
