Stofan | A Public Shower - Part One

Tuesday May 2nd 2023 - Tuesday May 9th 2023

“We hope that you will feel a sense of escape in this immersive space even though there is a vulnerability in knowing that people can see and hear you.”

Maria-Carmela Raso and Kateřina Blahutová invite you to their opening of Stofan | A public living room on Tuesday May 2nd at 16:00 on the first floor by the self-service checkouts in Grófin (downtown).

Their installation ‘A Public Shower - Part One’ is a multisensory experience that has visitors trying to find comfort in something that is seemingly uncomfortable - a private moment in a public space. While there will be no nudity or water, this installation aims to question what comfort is. “Is comfort a sense of safety?”

We sometimes need to be uncomfortable to grow – to become comfortable with the uncomfortable. Kateřina and Maria-Carmela create a new experiment at the library where users were invited to partake in research exploring how the senses affect each other in a series of sensual experiences. They have been working together on many different audiovisual projects through the past years and were for example with their Multisensory Lab, a performative experiment at DesignMarch in 2019.

More about their process in THIS interview.
