What children's books do we need?

Saturday November 22nd 2025

Children's books can help us discover new ideas, confront our fears, and explore our feelings. They can help us address some of life's biggest questions.

What are the books and stories that you and your children turn to again and again, and that you would recommend to other families?

Come and bring the books that have accompanied you as you've addressed questions big and small, and hear from others about the stories that help them talk about big topics. The books can be in any language. The conversation will be in Icelandic or English.

What books do you wish existed to explore questions that matter to your family, whether that's everyday challenges or bigger worries about the world? Maybe you're looking for stories that feature neurodiverse characters, explore grief, discuss climate change or the ever-expanding universe, or celebrate your culture: let’s create a wish list of the books we'd love to see on our shelves.

The discussion will be hosted by Cerise Fontaine, publisher and translator. Participation is free as always, and everyone is welcome to join to read, discuss, and share snacks.
