Children's Culture Festival 2023

Children's Culture Festival in Reykjavík takes place from April 18th to 23rd.
The guiding principles of the festival are quality, diversity, equality and good access to children's culture, with children and for children. 

The venue of the festival is the entire city and various events take place in schools, cultural institutions, art schools and elsewhere, with special emphasis on events in Grafarvogur neighbourhood. The City library is an important venue for the festival, which this year is dedicated to events about peace.

The 2023 program at the Library:

City Library Grófin (down town) 
Healthy nature and biodiversity, children's exhibition. April 17th - 24th. 
Thousand of cranes - Origami Workshop, Saturday April 22nd and Sunday April 23rd at 13:00 - 16:00.

City Library Kringlan
Human connection to flora and fauna, children's art exhibition. April 18th - 23rd.

City Library Árbær
Playing with books with Birte and Imma, suitable for children over 3yrs old. Sunday April 23rd at 13:00 - 14:00. 

City Library Úlfarsárdalur 
Interlinguistic Musical Hour for babies with Tónagull, with an emphasis is on togetherness and joy for the youngest ones. Suitable for children from 0-3 years. Tuesday April 18th at 10:30 - 11:30. 
Clowning around with Silly Suzy and Momo. Suitable for children 4-9 yrs old. Wednesday April 19th at 17:00 - 17:45. 
Pool disco in Dalslaugar's indoor pool, free for adults accompanied by children. Then it's ideal to slip into your pajamas after the disco and attend story time in the children's section. Wednesday April 19th at 17:30 - 19:00.
Storytime in pyjamas, all children, teddy bears and stuffed animals welcome. Wednesday April 19th at 18:30 - 19:00.

City Library Gerðuberg
Children at the after-school centers in Breiðholt have been creating various works of art this winter, which are used as soundproofing on the walls of the after-school centers.
The art exhibition of the shields will be at Gerðuberg from April 19th - 24th.

City Library Spöngin (Grafarvogur neighbourhood): 
Last but not least is the anual Adventure Palace which will be located in Spöngin this year, April 22nd - 23rd). Events for children and families both days from 10:30 - 16:00. 

There are also two exhibitions of children's works in Spöngin:
Bubble bath tranquility, joint exhibition with art work by pre-school children in Grafarvogur. April 18th - 28th.
Nature, opportunities and peace, student's who attend elementary schools in Grafarvogur have been discovering their their surroundings. The aim of the project is to strengthen students' identity, their critical thinking and their belief in their own abilities. It supports the United Nations' Global goals, increases young people's interest and awareness of science and sustainability. April 18th - April 29th.
