Workshop | Bestiary

Saturday October 12th 2024

Designer and visual artist Otilia Martin leads a workshop for young artists in her workshop, Bestiary. The workshop is about the creation of strange creatures, where Otilia leads the participants in the search for their inner zoo of wonders. The Wonder Zoo takes its inspiration across media, from cartography and modern culture, and each participant will determine the feel and form of their zoo and everything that lives in it, both graphically as well as emotionally and experientially. The purpose of the workshop is to give young artists the opportunity to develop an understanding of the visual mental connection between ideas and written language and thereby increase their creativity, as well as giving free reign to their imaginations.

Otilia Martin Gonzalez is a Spanish artist and designer, born in Germany but living in Reykjavík. With an education in visual communication and an interest in art, she began her art career while studying advertising at the University of Seville, Spain. In her art, Otilia works with different art forms; digital media, text, drawings and installations and the subconscious, dreams and symbols are a pervasive theme in the art. Otilia's work has been exhibited in many places, such as Spain, Japan, Iceland, Romania, Great Britain, Finland and Italy. Then she won the Vazquez Diaz Award in Spain.

Otilia is a member of SÍM (Union of Icelandic Visual Artists).

The workshop is suitable for 10-12 year olds. The workshop is in English, and participation is free, but registration is required. It starts on October 1st here below.

All content is on-site.
