Children´s Culture festival | Healthy nature and biodiversity

Monday April 17th 2023 - Monday April 24th 2023

Location: The Square  1st floor

The works in the exhibition are the result of the work of students in schools participating in LÁN

Landakotsskóli students aged 5-15 show the results of their research on biodiversity and the special characteristics of Icelandic animals. Biodiversity is a prerequisite for an ecosystem to function. The project is part of LÁN (an artistic approach to nature). LÁN is an interdisciplinary development project that connects science and the arts, focusing on sustainability and environmental awareness. Emphasis is placed on getting to know natures issues in a creative and innovative way.

The world is facing a major environmental threat caused by man. The problem manifests itself mainly in the decline and even collapse of biological diversity, which is caused by climate change and the widespread disruption of habitats, ecosystems and the communities of organisms that live there. One of the reasons is that too many people see themselves as lords of nature instead of being a part of it. Landakotskóli students aged 5-15 show the results of their research on the biological diversity and characteristics of Icelandic animals. Biodiversity is a prerequisite for an ecosystem to function.
