DesignMarch | Let‘s talk about the future library project

Saturday May 6th 2023

On its’ 100th birthday, just as the library world is transforming into a new paradigm (from a place to borrow book to a place to gain knowledge and share activities) the main library of Reykjavik is preparing for a major renovation. This provides an opportunity to align with the global trends of libraries, to become a state-of-the-art place for inspiration, creation and participation for the people of Reykjavik.

Reykjavík city needs social infrastructures and participative platforms to create a society of equal opportunities. Community spaces equalize access to social spaces, they are places where people can come exactly as they are and share what they have on their own terms.

Come and find out all about the project and the amazing opportunity it provides for all inhabitants of the city, young or old and from all backgrounds. You have a chance to dive into a huge scale model and enter a part of the future to better understand what a social library means.
