Exhibition | A few popes revisited
Haraldur Magnússon is interested in history and religious history. His exhibition consists of portraits and photographs of a few popes of the Catholic church, which he decorates with objects that he picks carefully and show famous Christian symbols, such as the cross, the fish and the keys. Latin is the language of the Roman Catholic church, the names of the symbols are written in Latin. Early on it became a tradition that the popes chose their personal motto in latin, these mottos are in Latin in Haraldur's pictures, but also his own translations into Icelandic.
Haraldur is a member of the Icelandic national church, and has never considered turning his back on the Evangelical-Lutheran church. His pictures are therefore not religious, but show his explorations.
Haraldur Magnússon holds an education in business administration, he was born and raised in Hafnarfjörður, where he still lives, and has decided to be buried in the cemetery of Hafnarfjörður.
The exhibition is open during the opening hours of the library, Mon-Thu 10-19, Fri 11-18 and Sat 11-16.
