Live Reading | The Blue Leopard: Audiobook

How does it sound to sit down at the library in the afternoon, grab a cup of coffee, and listen to a live book reading? 

This spring, cozy reading sessions will be offered at the Reykjavík City Library in Úlfarsárdal. Passages will be read from last year’s most popular books, and guests can settle in and enjoy listening to the reading led by Sunna Dís Másdóttir — writer and former literary critic for Kiljan (RUV). There will also be an opportunity for light conversation after the reading for those interested 

This time, there will be a reading from the novel The Blue Leopard - Audiobook by Sigrún Pálsdóttir, which received the Icelandic Literary Prize in the category of fiction for the year 2025. 

About the book:

The Blue Leopard – Audiobook is a dramatic comedy about listening and attention, historiography and fiction. 
A certain streaming service has released the audiobook The Blue Leopard, a tale of fate inspired by the adventurous journey of an Icelandic woman across Europe during the Second World War. The story follows three listeners of the audiobook and their struggle to keep track of the gripping plot amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life, while the author—whose identity is unknown—does not make it easy for them. This extraordinary narrative ranges widely, and it is nearly impossible to determine what is fictional and what is not, as becomes clear when the paths of the three listeners eventually converge under unusual and oppressive circumstances. 

Sigrún Pálsdóttir writes concise, precise, and content-rich stories that have attracted well-deserved attention both in Iceland and abroad. Her previous books have been translated into numerous languages, earning her awards and nominations. For this book, Sigrún Pálsdóttir received the Icelandic Literary Prize in the category of fiction for the year 2025. 

Guests are encouraged to bring their swimsuits, as it’s possible to take a dip in Dalslaug swimming pool before or after the reading.
