NAXOS Music Library
Reykjavík City Library users can stream classical music via the NAXOS music library
How do I log in?
- You need a valid library card with The Reykjavik City Library to log in to the Naxos Music Library.
- Choose either Naxos Music Library or Naxos Video Library and enter your library card number (it usually starts with GE00) in the text field in the upper-left corner that says, “Enter passcode.”
- Remember to log out when you’re done listening (the red Log Out button at the top of the page).
What will I find?
Stream classical music (Naxos Music Library)
Up to 130,000 CDs with nearly 2 million works from roughly 800 labels featuring classical music. Bios of more than 40,000 composers and performers, song lists, music dictionary, summaries, and lyrics from more than 700 operas in addition to music history trivia.
Stream videos (Naxos Video Library)
Roughly 1,200 operas, ballets, music documentaries, and concerts as well as music tours to historic places. In addition, Naxos has material from Opus Arte, Arthaus, Dacapo, and EuroArts.
The libraries are all updated regularly.
Can I make playlists?
It’s possible to create your own playlists in the Naxos Music Library and Naxos Music Library World. The playlists can be accessed through computers, laptops, portable digital audio players, and smartphones.
But first you must create an account:
- Choose Naxos Music Library and use your library card to sign up.
- Choose Playlists in the table of contents at the top of the page.
- Choose Sign Up in the upper right under Student/Member Playlists.
- Fill in the required information and choose Register New Account Now.
- Activate your account by clicking on the link in the email that was sent to you.
Now you can create your own playlist.
After you’ve logged in normally with your library card, you can always use your account information to access playlists under Student/Member Playlists
Is there an app?
The NML app can be found in the iTunes (for iOS) and Google Play (for Android) stores.
After downloading the app, you can log in with the same account information you used to create the account (above).
