Lunchtime Melodies I – In a Swing with Greta Salóme

Musician and violinist Greta Salóme, together with guitarist Gunnar Hilmarsson, bassist Leifur Gunnarsson, and drummer Óskar Þormarsson, will perform music in tribute to Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt.

The program will include pieces such as Tiger Rag, Minor Swing, and Swing Guitars, as well as popular songs played in the “gypsy jazz” style, where lightning-fast violin melodies get their chance to shine, and a sense of lightness takes center stage.

Greta Salóme has for many years had an interest in Grappelli’s playing style on the violin and began studying it at a young age. She herself has said:

“To play like Grappelli, you have to turn everything you have learned in classical music upside down. That’s when it starts to swing.”
Admission to the concerts is free, and everyone is warmly welcome.
