International Synthesizer Day | Synth Expo

Saturday May 22nd 2021

International Synthesizer Day is celebrated each year on the birthday of Robert Moog, the inventor of the first commercial synthesizer. His creation has had such a massive influence that modern music is difficult to imagine without involving the synthesizer.

In honor of the wondrous synthesizer, the downtown Reykjavik City Library will transform its first floor into a fantastic Den of Synth! Visitors and curious passersby can mess around and play with all kinds of magical synthesizers and gear that musicians will put on display. Everyone is invited to come experience an electronic music wonderland!

On this day we are hosting a workshop where kids and grown-ups can learn to create danceable electronic music hits in minutes using the iPad App Figure.

Come over, bring your friends, and have a blast making some beautiful sounds and noise, just as our “ambassador of the synth” Daði Freyr makes his mark on Eurovision this week.
