The Icelandic Crime Wave | Writing workshop - Danger, high voltage!

Want to challenge yourself in writing crime stories? Join an exciting writing workshop!

The Reykjavík City Library offers a free crime fiction writing workshop.
There will be two workshops, two hours each, on Saturday September 14th and Saturday September 21st at 11:00 to 13:00. The supervisor is Sunna Dís Másdóttir, an Icelandic author.

Participants will receive various stylistic exercises and methods for building tension in the text, character creation and storytelling will be examined. At the end of each workshop, distinguished crime fiction authors will pay a visit, chat about their own writings and answer some questions from participants and other guests.

The workshops are a part of the program The Icelandic Crime Wave (Glæpafár á Íslandi) which is a collaboration between the library and The Icelandic Crime Syndicate, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Syndicate. 

Participation is free of charge but registration is required for the writing workshop. The authors’ conversation is free and open to anyone. The maximum number in the workshop is 15 people.

Saturday September 14th

A writing workshop which takes place in a room called Friður, on the upper floor of the Spöngin City Library (Grafarvogur neighbourhood).

The participants examine texts and do various style exercises under the guidance of Sunna Dís Másdóttir

At 13:15 - 14:15

Conversation with author Yrsa Sigurðardóttir about crime writing. Open event.
 

Saturday September 21st 

At 11:00 - 13:00

A writing workshop in Friður with Sunna Dís. The participants examine texts and do various style exercises

Kl. 13:15 - 14:15

Conversation with author Skúli Sigurðsson about crime writing. Open event.
