Visit the Recording Studio and Podcast Studio
Introduction to the Recording Studio and Podcast Studio with Þorgrímur Þorsteinsson, who has specialized in recordings and sound engineering.
Guests will be taught about the equipment of the recording studio and the podcast studio and the basics of recording.
The goal of the evening is for the guests to be able to fend for themselves in our studios and use the facilities to record and create as they please.
Use of the recording studio and podcast studio is free for those who have a valid library card.
The introduction will be split into two parts and guests are welcome to attend both or either, as they wish:
- 7-8 p.m.: Introduction to the podcast studio
- 8-9 p.m.: Introduction to the recording studio
About Þorgrímur:
Þorgrímur has a broad musical background rooted both in jazz guitar playing and a Bachelor degree in Creative Music Communications from the Iceland University of the Arts. Þorgrímur went on to complete further studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and graduated from RDAM Tonmeister department in 2020.
About the Recording Studio:
At the recording studio users are welcome to record and edit music. Be it a band of many members or a solo project, all equipment is on site, such as a guitar, bass, drums, a keyboard, microphones and audio editing software.
The Recording Studio features:
- Macmini with Logic Pro X, Fabfilter FX bundle, Izotope Elements and Arturia Analog Lab
- Apogee Ensemble sound card
- Yamaha HS7 speakers and Yamaha HS 8S woofer
- Beyerdynamic DT1770 PRO headphones
- Behringer PolyD synthesizer and Arturia KeyLab 88 MIDI keyboard
- Fender Stratocaster and Fender P Bass
- Yamaha Stage Custom drums with Dream cymbals
- A set of microphones, including RODE NT2, Sennheiser MD-421, Slate ML 2
About the Podcast Studio:
The podcast studio is located at a facility called Skemman. It has space for three participants, with a microphone for each one. The recording device, The RØDECaster Pro II, can be connected to a phone or other smart device via Bluetooth to allow recording of audio clips from those devices. User can also connect a computer via USB-C to the recording device to add external sounds.
The Podcast Studio features:
- RØDECaster Pro II recording device
- Three Shure SM58 microphones
- Three sets of headphones
Skemman also offers a phone tripod, a green screen and LED studio lighting.
Everyone is welcome - free of charge - no registration.
