Information about the event
Exhibition | Veiðislóð/Fishing Grounds
"Fishing Grounds" is an exhibition by Tómas Helgi Kristjánsson.
The works are based on the actual outlines of Icelandic fishing rivers and water systems. Through simple lines and a clean presentation, the forms of the locations are highlighted in a new way, where the emphasis shifts from the details to the whole and the feeling. Each piece is thus both a place and a memory – an attempt to capture something that many people connect with but rarely see in this way.
The works of Veiðislóð refer to the rivers we know, the memories created on their banks, and the feelings we have for them. They are a reminder of untouched nature and our responsibility towards it.
The exhibition is Tómas's first solo show and marks the beginning of the further development of the project Fishing Grounds.
The exhibition opening will be on Friday, 5 June at 16:30.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of works in the exhibition will go to the North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF).
