Artótek | The Nail

The Sólheimar City Library will be showcasing a painting by Ella Magg from the 1st of October. The painting is provided by the Artótek, which is situated in the Grófin City Library.

The Nail is a new art exhibition at the Sólheimar Library where one art piece will be showcased at a prime spot within the library. The work of art is chosen by an employee, customer or the previous buyer/renter of a Nail art piece.

The art can be bought or rented. If the art is rented until its sum reaches the price, the renter becomes its owner. The person that chooses to buy or rent the exhibited art can choose the next one to be showcased on the Nail.

Elín Magnúsdóttir Rudari was born in 1956 in Reykjavik. She received a Diplom from the Gerit Rietveldt Academy in Amsterdam in 1987 and has worked as a painter ever since.

The first painting to be showcased on the Nail is called „Ég er heit og mjúk“ or "I am hot and soft". The Nail is Magnús Thorlacius' idea, an employee of the library. The painting was chosen by him and his girlfriend, Freydís Halldórsdóttur. "We think the painting is fantastic and envy its future owner! Its atmosphere is absurd and provocative."

The painting can be rented for 3.000 kr. a month or bought for 65.000 kr.
