Exhibition | Drawn together
Angela and Jurgita exhibit their collages and mixed media works.
Two women from different countries, with different backgrounds, met in Reykjavík. Jurgita and Angela have many things in common. They both as foreign women in Iceland need extra effort to establish and prove themselves in Icelandic society. Both met in their master´s studies at the same program of International Studies in Education at the University of Iceland and both have passion for creating art.
Before moving to Iceland, they had very different lives, proffesions and culture - but they have art in common and both are wives and mothers.
Angela and Jurgita have different approaches to their art, but both are expressive and sensitive to the world and various social issues.
In this exhibition, two artists use the opportunity to explore their differences and find more things in common. Even just being drawn together by the lucky accident and the exhibition is an important step in becoming more integrated in the Icelandic cultural pattern - a colourful thread.
