Culture night | Camping Trip at the Library
Let's go camping at the Library in Grófin (down town)
We’ll be camping out on Culture Night this year! Let's put down the tents between the bookshelves, and play the guitar and sing harmoniously by the “bonfire”. Bring your lopapeysa! Relaxed fun for the whole family at the City Library in Grófin.
Running all day
Selfie Station | 1st floor: Which camping character are you? The Icelandic Summer Lady, the fishing dude or the super hero who comes to the rescue when the tent falls apart? Put on your biggest smile and take a picture of yourself at the station. Costumes and accessories are on site to make a good photo even more funny.
Navigation game | 2nd floor: It is important to be well-oriented to not getting lost while traveling around the country. It also comes in handy in this fun family navigation game in the children's department, where 10 books are hidden that contain answers to the game's questions. The lucky ones will be pulled at randome out of the hat receiving book as a prize.

Poetry and Lego
11:00 - 15:00 | 1st floor - The Square
Poetry: Write your own camping poem from the words you find in the word soup simmering on the primus. Glue them on a piece of paper and take them home with you. Poems can be all sorts, rhymed or non-formal, even just one sentence. Poetry writing can also be a fun collaborative family activity.
Lego: Mountain of lego bricks for people of all ages. Build your dream camping senario with striped tents, blue grass and trolls or let your imagination run wild and let your inner Lego designer shine.
Storytime with a princess
13:00 - 14:00 | 2nd floor
Princesses also love to go camping like other people and pay in the creek at the campsite, wearing a princess dress, run around barefoot and go on an exploring expeditions. Althoguh their greatest joy is to read stories to their friends while they relax on the grass and look for creatures in the clouds. Let's get comfortable and enjoy listening to the snow princess, snow queen and the mountain man read us stories in English, Spanish and French. Afterwards there will be crown craft session, games and dancing.
Children's yoga
14:00 - 14:30 | 2nd floor
When camping it is very important to relax, take a deep breath and be in the now. The children are experts at this so why not join them in a special children's yoga lead by María Ásmundsdóttir Shanko. No need to be nervous, there won't be any head standing or unnatural streching, only fun exercises, breating, games and relaxation. Cozy yoga for the whole family.
Manga drawing course
15:00 - 16:00 | 5th floor
Third day of camping, the book from the library has been read cover to cover, twice, there is no weater for outdoor activities and the phone is out of battery. Good news, there is a Manga drawing course with Momiji Sensei who teaches the basic technique and rules in making Manga pictures. Momiji guides you through how to draw expressive characters. No drawing experience needed!
What to take with you: Pencils, pens, erasers and sketchbook/notebook. Organizers will also provide pencils and paper but in limited quantities. Participation is free of charge but since there are limmited spots registration is required.

Like a walk in the park...micro stories time
15:00 - 16:00 | 1st floor - The Book Square
Imagine you are sitting in a camping chair, with eyes closed and the summer sun dancing on your face. If you listen carefully you can hear a flock of birds singing. The birds have all attended a writing course at the library and each bird is telling a story in their own mother tongue. Enjoy listening to beautiful micro-stories about spring, friendship, water, travel, food and feasts, parties and festivals.
Soap bubbles
Kl. 16:00 - 17:00 | Outside
Soap bubbles should be thstandard equipment on all camping trips. Small bubbles and big bubbles of all colours. Let's make giant ones and let them soar into the air.

There has been so much fun on our vacation, I made a beautiful wreath of flowers, have a new friend who is a little furry puppy and dad fell into the lake wich was hilarious. Looking forward seeing you when we come back home, love Ginny,,.
Let's share the adventure of the summer with our loved ones and make our own envelopes to put the letters in. All material and stamps provided. Mailbox on the spot.

Salsa lesson

After the rainy summer, it's good to get into a bit of a tropical mood before autumn hits. Jóhannes Agnar Kristinsson, dance teacher for many years, gets the blood moving and teaches young and old the basic steps of salsa.

18:00 - 18:30 | 1st floor - The Square
Let's imagine for a moment that the floor in the library is a soft and grassy slope, the bookshelves are rocks and the fire sizzles in front of us, we can even smell the smoke if we breathe deeply through our nose. Let's sing our lungs out all together.
Karaoke
18:30 - 19:30 | 1st floor - The Square
Find your favorite song and take it away! All karaoke songs that can be found on Youtube are available.
Silent disco
20:00 - 22:00 | 1st floor - The Book Square
Once the youngest ones are asleep in the tent it's time to start the disco! But a silent one... Silent disco is a brilliant way to enjoy music together. The guests wear headphones and can switch between different channels while dancing like there is no tomorrow.
