Co-housing, what is that?
Cohousing (Kjarnasamfélög) are communities that often promote a more sustainable way of living. The people in the community decide how their community will look like and function. In a cohousing community everyone has their own home, with everything they want to have there but they choose if they want to own some spaces and some items with the community. Cohousing communities are usually designed to enhance good relations between residents. Cohousing communities are popular in many countries around the world and exists in many forms in the U.S, Nordic countries and Europe.
A group of friends recently created a project around the idea of developing a co-housing community in Reykjavík. They are: Joscha Simonsen architect, Anna María Björnsdóttir, singer, Embla Vigfúsdóttir, designer, and Jesper Pedersen, programmer.
