Fabrication | Bookmark workshop

Would you like to join a cosy get-together where you can be creative in a good company? 

On this first Thursday of autumn, we’ll be making our own bookmarks – an absolute essential for all the reading that lies ahead this winter.

Library staff often see the many creative ways people mark their place in a book: with receipts, old photographs, dried leaves, birthday cards, shopping lists, or even appointment reminders. While all of these are practical and resourceful solutions, there’s something especially cozy about having a beautiful, well-made bookmark – and even better if it’s handmade!

At this workshop, the use of imagination and creativity is encouraged. Participants will be able to decorate sturdy bookmark-sized card stock, with access to a wide range of materials including colors, pens, decorative hole punchers, stickers, yarn and needles, scissors, glue sticks, old books, and more useful supplies. For those who would like an extra challenge, there will also be an opportunity to try paper folding (origami).

Fabrication is a series of events that take place on the first Thursday each month at the Reykjavík City Library in Úlfarsárdalur from 3.30 pm - 5:30 pm.

Let's have a cosy time, be creative and make something beautiful. The facilitators will bring ideas how we can reuse and reinvent with different materials. They will bring all the materials and tools you need for the fabrications.

For creative people of all ages. Children younger than 8 years old should be accompanied by an adult.
