Lunchtime Melodies | Sigvaldi Sings Stories of Songwriters

The theme for Lunchtime Melodies in march is songwriters, featuring music by both Icelandic and international artists. 

Sigvaldi Helgi Gunnarsson will shed light on various methods of songwriting and share the stories behind the lyrics, many of which have fascinating backgrounds that add depth to the music. 

Sigvaldi grew up in Skagafjörður, where he took his first steps in music. From a young age, he has performed on stage—alone or with a band—sharing music with his community. He has played at Þorrablót festivals, birthdays, weddings, funerals, nursing homes, schools, bars, and the list goes on. 

In 2015, he competed in The Voice Iceland and reached the finals. 
He has a great interest in guitar playing and often accompanies others or performs solo at seated events. 

In 2024, he released the EP Up North, which contains original songs and lyrics. His motto is: “Music for almost any occasion.” 

At the concert, Sigvaldi will play guitar, accompanied by Leifur Gunnarsson on double bass. Leifur is also the artistic director of the concert.
