Live book reading | Í skugga trjánna
How does it sound to sit down at the library after a long day, grab a cup of coffee, and listen to a live book reading?
This spring, cozy reading sessions will be offered at the Reykjavík City Library in Úlfarsárdal. Passages will be read from last year’s most popular books, and guests can settle in and enjoy listening to the reading led by Sunna Dís Másdóttir — writer and former literary critic for Kiljan (RUV). There will also be an opportunity for light conversation after the reading for those interested.
The first book to be read is the novel In the Shadow of the Trees (Í skugga trjánna) by Guðrún Eva Mínervudóttir, which was the most read and borrowed book of 2025 at the Reykjavík City Library.
About the book:
In the Shadow of the Trees (Í skugga trjánna) is an autobiographical novel in the spirit of Raspútín’s Beard, first published in 2016 and widely praised by both readers and critics. Here, Guðrún Eva Mínervudóttir confronts reality with sincerity and boldness, resulting in a powerful story — full of humor, warmth, and poetic wisdom.
Guests are encouraged to bring their swimsuits, as it’s possible to take a dip in Dalslaug swimming pool before or after the reading.
Let’s come together and enjoy a cozy moment at the library.
All are welcome.
The reading is in Icelandic.
