Information about the event
Wool and Words
Do you want to gather with other knitting enthusiasts while practising Icelandic in a relaxed atmosphere? Are you an Icelandic speaker who loves crafts, wants to meet new people and share your knitting knowledge with others? Here you can share stories, tips, and meet people while enhancing language skills!
Lopi og orð is a cozy gathering where everyone who enjoys handcrafts such as knitting, crochet, or embroidery and has a basic knowledge of Icelandic is welcome to join. The idea of the event is to create a space where Icelandic learners can practice their skills while connecting with Icelandic culture in a relaxed, cozy environment.
Although English is permitted, Icelandic as the primary means of communication is highly encouraged for participants at all levels, or at least the constant incorporation of Icelandic words. Likewise, participants are expected to be patient with those whose Icelandic abilities are still developing but are doing their best.
We will have coffee and snacks for everyone, as well as knitting recipes and a vocabulary sheet.
We meet every Sunday (Beginning November 16th until December 21st) from 15:00 to 16:30 on the second floor of Grófinn - City Library.
Icelandic speakers are also encouraged to join us, talk to the participants and share their knitting knowledge with others.
