Fræðakaffi | Horror and Horror Writing with Emil Hjörvar
To celebrate the darkest days of winter and the recent Halloween, author Emil Hjörvar Petersen will visit the Reykjavík City Library in Spöngin and give a lecture on horror stories and horror writing.
Emil will briefly go over the history of the horror genre, talk about different types of horror, discuss horror in Iceland, and provide insight into his own writing process; what to keep in mind when writing horror stories.
Emil is one of the pioneers of fantasy and related literary genres in Iceland. Among other things, he was a bestselling author at Storytel, where he focused on horror with books such as Dauðaleið (The Death Road), Hælið (The Asylum), and Ó, Karítas (Oh, Karítas). His thirteenth novel, Eilífðarvetur (Eternal Winter), was recently published.
The lecture is open to everyone and intended for all age groups, except perhaps the youngest, as there will be some scary things on the slides. The event will take place on Monday, November 3rd at 4:30 PM.
