Would you like to see a story? | Visual, three dimensional conversation at Torgið

Thursday February 10th 2022

Uldis Ozols starts a visual, three dimensional conversation at Torgið. We will see comedy, children’s stories, VV-stories as well as true stories everyone can understand, no matter if you know Icelandic sign language or not.

Storytelling is at the heart of the sign language communities around the world and is used as means to preserve the culture and history of a language group as well as the uniqueness of each sign language. Icelandic sign language is the preserved through the act of storytelling and these stories have no less of a value than written Icelandic literature. They are a source showing a development of the language and linguistic history. A storyteller fluent in a given sign language is an author, performer and an artist all at once and can transform into an unlikely phenomenon like a chewing gum, shark, ram or a telegram during the storytelling.

All welcome. Admission free.
