DIY Coffee Scrub | Week 17

Wednesday April 23rd 2025

For many, coffee is an essential part of the day – but what happens after the cup is empty? Once brewed, coffee grounds are often discarded as waste, even though they are rich in nutrients and full of potential.

Join us as we collect used coffee grounds over a few days and transform them into a fragrant and nourishing coffee scrub. This scrub revitalizes the skin, boosts circulation, and promotes well-being – a perfect way to make the most of ingredients that would otherwise go to waste.

Registration is required and can be completed below on this site.

We encourage participants to bring a repurposed jar for storing their scrub.

Other ingredients will be provided on-site.

Event on Facebook.

What is Week 17?

Week 17 is a global initiative by libraries to highlight the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Launched in Denmark in 2024, the project is a collaboration between libraries, individuals, and grassroots organizations, focusing on sustainability and social responsibility.

At the library, we offer a diverse program with creative activities that promote equality and a sustainable lifestyle.

Join us – together, we create a better future!

How does a DIY Coffee Scrub connect to the UN Sustainable Development Goals?

Used coffee grounds get a new purpose as a natural skincare product.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Upcycling reduces waste.
Goal 13: Climate Action – Less waste means a smaller environmental impact.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – The scrub promotes natural self-care and wellness.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Participants learn together about sustainability.
