RIFF 2025 – One-Minute Films
As part of the Reykjavik International Film Festival, which is held from September 25th to October 5th, the Reykjavik City Library in Grófin is screening various one-minute films. The subject matters are diverse.
The screenings will be at Torgið on the ground floor:
- Sunday the 28th of September from 12 AM –5 PM
- Tuesday the 30th of September from 4 PM – 6 PM
- Wednesday the 1st of October from 4 PM – 6 PM
- Friday the 3rd of October from 4 PM – 6 PM
‘When Art Isn’t Life’ (11 min)
Curated by The Critics — a collective of young Nigerian filmmakers — challenges the boundaries between art and life, exploring the question of what art is if it isn’t life.
‘When filmmaking is a first language spoken to protect’ (23 min)
Curated by Shen Xin, explores filmmaking as a site for co-creating language through relationships with knowledge.
‘Passing the Love’ (19 min)
The series employs intimate portraits of individuals, friends, families, and collectives as a tool for circulating affection and serves as a visual diary of emotional landscapes. It draws upon love — a vital force that sustains us through darkness. “Love” is imbued with profound meaning, not as pictured in Hollywood, but as a reflection of the complexities of shared human experiences and connections. The films encapsulate moments of care, longing, vulnerability, forgetting and becoming.
One Minutes - Jr. No Easy Day (15 min)
The One Minutes Jr. team traveled to Dhaka for a five-day workshop with 15 young people living on the streets in Dhaka and receiving support in shelters by UNICEF Bangladesh. They learned filmmaking and editing skills, discovering the power of storytelling.
