Installation | Hidden Trails
Location: 2nd floor The Circle
Welcome to the opening the 25th of january kl. 15:00-17:00
Hidden Trails (Icelandic: Huldar slóðir), consists of a subtle soundscape and many different tactile sculptures that produce sounds when touched and handled. Both the sonic and conceptual world of the installation draws inspiration from libraries and their role in everyday life. Libraries are places of dwelling that offer the opportunity to explore, discover, and spend time among and with books, in the miniature and delicate sound world of libraries.
Visitors are encouraged to approach the installation in the same way, from curiosity and exploration where they can participate and investigate the sound world of the exhibition by playing these particular sculptures that can be found throughout the exhibition space.
The work was commissioned by Donaueschinger Musiktake and originally set up at Galerie im Turm at Donaueschinger Musiktage 2024.
Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir is a sound and visual artist based in Iceland. Her artistic practice is centred on explorations of collaborative creativity. Working with sculptural elements of sound and matter, she creates installations, sound sculptures, audio-visual pieces, and performances. The works are actively designed to facilitate continuous processes that highlight how ideas surface from correspondences with materials, between individuals, and in context to one’s surroundings.
This installation is a part of Dark Music Days.
