Freeshop | Coffee at the Freeshop #2 – Stúdíó Flétta

How about stopping by for a cup of coffee and connecting with the local community?

This fall, we‘ll regularly have free coffee in the Freeshop and invite good guests to drop in for a chat. Sometimes it‘s just a casual get together, other times inspirational presentations. Everyone is welcome and everything is free.

This time, Birta Rós Brynjólfsdóttir will drop by for coffee and introduce the work of Flétta Design Studio.

Flétta is run by designers Birta Rós Brynjólfsdóttir and Hrefna Sigurðardóttir, who have collaborated on a variety of projects where material reuse and local production play a key role. On the surface, their work is characterized by playfulness and lightness, but underneath it bubbles with critical questions. They deliberately set limits on material use and working methods in the hope of shaping new and more sustainable ways of designing and interacting with objects. Flétta received the 2023 Icelandic Design Awards in the categories Project of the Year and Product of the Year.Want to know more about the Freeshop?

On October 15, Flétta will host a workshop where participants get a chance to dive into its design process.
