Freeshop | Creative Workshop with Studio Flétta
The design studio Flétta presents an engaging workshop at Fríbúð.
Flétta is run by designers Birta Rós Brynjólfsdóttir and Hrefna Sigurðardóttir, who have collaborated on a wide range of projects where material reuse and local production play a key role. On the surface, their work is marked by playfulness and lightness, but underneath it bubbles with critical questions. They set deliberate limits on material use and working methods in the hope of shaping new, more sustainable ways to design and interact with objects. Flétta received the 2023 Icelandic Design Awards in the categories Project of the Year and Product of the Year.
In the workshop, Birta will offer insight into the methods and approaches Flétta uses in their work, with a focus on playfulness and the use of locally sourced materials. Participants will work with materials commonly found in every household and explore ways to create new objects through reuse.
Registration is required, as space is limited to 15 participants.
Registration opens this fall.
