BORGARBÓKASAFNIÐ

The exciting Summer Reading Challenge, Gúndi the and the Great Grass Hunt, organised by Reykjavík City Library, The Directorate of Education and School Services, and public libraries across Iceland, is still going strong. The seventh prize winner has now been drawn, and this time the lucky reader is 11-year-old Ingunn Lilja Sigurjónsdóttir.
What’s your favourite book?
"The Wings of Fire-series is my favourite. They’re fantasy books about dragons. I read them in English because I was attending school in Australia earlier this year, and I discovered them in the school library there."
Which book would you recommend to your friends?
"Most of the time it’s actually my friends who recommend books to me. But I’ve also told some of them about the Wings of Fire-series, and a few have read it."
Which book do you think adults should read?
"I’d recommend the original text version of Wings of Fire. It’s the first edition that came out, before the graphic novel version, which is the one I read now."
Where do you like reading the most?
"In bed before I go to sleep. I also like reading in the mornings on days when I get to stay in bed a little longer."
When do you like reading the most?
"In the evenings!"
What do you enjoy doing most during the summer?
"I love playing and spending time outside in our garden because I’m quite a homebody. I also really enjoy going camping."
What fun things have you done this summer?
"This summer I went to the National Scout Jamboree in North Iceland, and then we travelled around the area afterwards. It was so much fun! I met lots of new people, including kids from other countries. In fact, I’ve only just got back from Akureyri to come and collect my prize!"
The Summer Reading Challenge runs until 20 August, so there’s still time to take part!
