Favorite illustrations
In February and March, children aged 6-12 are invited to vote for their favorite illustrations from children's and young adult books
Pictures say more than a thousand words! Pictures describe what is happening in the story without words. They can be funny, scary, sad, or show us fun little details that are not in the text.
Children in grades 1-7 are encouraged to take a close look at the illustrations in books by illustrators who live and work in Iceland. The nominated books are on the poster Flottustu myndirnar (favorite illustrations). The children choose three books with the pictures they find most fun, most interesting, or best for any reason. The vote is held in conjunction with the Children's Book Awards vote.
The illustrations that make it to the top five will be put to a vote on the Sögur website - sogur.is. The award ceremony will be broadcast live on RÚV on May 30, 2026.
