Fabrication | Koinobori

Thursday April 10th 2025

Do you want to turn something used into something new, and enjoy being creative in good company?

Let's have a cosy time, be creative, reuse, and make something beautiful. The facilitator, Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir, will bring ideas, materials, and all the tools you´ll need for the fabrications.

Koinobori, carp windsocks, streamers or banners, billow in the wind in Japan from April through early May, in honor of the Children's Day on May 5.  By offering a koinobori, people encourage children to be strong and brave and wish them happiness, prosperity, joy and health during their entire life. This time we are going to make little koinobori and send our good wishes for all children out into the world.

Fabrication is open to everyone, but best suited to children over 8 years old, as well as adults of all ages.

The club in Árbær is every second Thursday each month and in Spöngin under the guidance of Védís Huldudóttir the second Wednesday each month at 4 am.

No pre-registration required and everyone is welcome.
