DO I NEED A LIBRARY CARD, ID, PROOF OF RESIDENCE, ICELANDIC FLUENCY, SPECIAL SKILLS, ETC.) TO USE THE MAKERSPACE? 

Not at all! Everyone is welcome to  the Makerspace. Younger children should  be accompanied by a grown-up. We also ask all of our makers to treat the facilities with respect.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO USE THE MAKERSPACE? 

No, entrance and use of all technology is free.  However, use of the 3D printer, vinyl cutter, and badge maker are subject to a small materials fee.  Please see our current price list.    

IS IT POSSIBLE TO DONATE EQUIPMENT?  MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, OR A COMPUTER.

We‘re grateful for any equipment! If donations are in working order. Please send us a message using our contact form. 

MAY I SCHEDULE A VISIT WITH MY STUDENTS? 

Yes! We welcome teachers of creative technologies who wish to bring a class of up to 12 students.  Please send us a request via the contact form. Availability may vary throughout the year depending on staff and resources.  Larger groups unfortunately are not always possible to accommodate in Grófin or Árbær, Gerðuberg offer the possibility for larger groups

CAN I SELL SOMETHING I MADE IN THE MAKERSPACE? 

Your personal creations are yours to do with as you like!  However, mass production is not possible when using raw materials such as 3D printing filament, vinyl transfer paper, sewing thread or badges. We try to stock just enough materials for everyone to produce for themselves and small batches for personal use. While the Makerspace open to everyone..

MAY I HOLD AN EVENT, TEACH OR FACILITATE A WORKSHOP AT THE MAKERSPACE? 

The Makerspace is not just for learners and creators; it‘s for anyone who needs a space to share their expertise!  We welcome all workshop ideas.  Some workshops we have held or would like to be held include … paper circuits, green screen, photography, video game programming, songwriting and producing, electronic music, recycled shopping bags, etc. 

I’D LIKE TO BOOK THE MAKERSPACE FOR AN OUTSIDE EVENT (FESTIVAL, CONFERENCE, SOCIAL FUNCTION, ETC.)

Staff of The Makerspace often showcase our technologies at larger festivals, conferences and expos aimed at youth and educational professionals.  Past events include Big Bang hátíð, Innblástur blabla, etc.
